MAKER'S YIELD & COST ("Maker's Yield & Cost," "we," "us," or "our") operates makersyield.com and the Maker's Yield & Cost mobile application. We are based in the State of New York. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
This Policy applies to all users globally, including:
Account data: Name, email address, language preference, and authentication credentials (managed via Firebase Authentication — we do not store raw passwords).
Billing data: Subscription tier, billing status, and last-four card digits — received from Stripe. We never store full payment card numbers.
Your Content: Product records, batch data, materials, supplier information, cost sheets, yield calculations, and photos you enter into the Service. This is your data; we process it only to deliver the Service to you.
Usage and technical data: IP address, device type, browser, OS, pages viewed, features used, session duration, app version, and crash reports.
Butler AI data: Butler runs on your phone. When you use Butler in the beta, your questions are answered by the AI model on your phone. When Butler runs on your phone, the photos you scan are read on your phone and the photo itself is not sent to us. Your Butler conversations, including what Butler writes about a photo, are saved to your account so you can see them on your other devices. Downloading the Butler model connects your phone to the model host (Hugging Face) and to our cloud storage. These downloads do not include your questions or photos, but the host sees your device's IP address. If you tap "Report this answer", your email app opens a draft to us with the answer text and a message id. We receive it only if you send that email. Beta usage data: Beta usage data improves our features and trains future versions of our AI assistant.
Support communications: Content of emails or messages you send us.
What we do not collect: Government ID numbers, full payment card numbers, biometric data, or sensitive health information.

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. For transfers from the EEA or UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the UK IDTA, as applicable.
When your account is deleted, we delete your login, profile and data in workspaces you solely own. Shared workspaces remain available to their other members; owners must transfer ownership before deleting their account.
We retain your Smart IP Shield proofs of authorship and their associated verification, credit and purchase records. Our intended retention period is about seven years. Automatic deletion of these records after that period is not yet implemented.

All users may access and update account data in settings, request deletion of Your Content, and opt out of marketing emails.
EEA and UK users (GDPR) additionally have the right to: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. You may also withdraw consent at any time and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to: know what data we collect and how we use it; delete personal information (subject to exceptions); correct inaccurate information; and opt out of sale/sharing (we do not sell or share personal information as defined by CCPA). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe we have collected a minor's data, contact us immediately.
We use TLS/HTTPS for data in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive data in Firebase, access controls for production systems, SecureStore (not AsyncStorage) for mobile credential storage, and Cloudflare for bot protection. No system is impenetrable; we will notify you and relevant authorities of any breach as required by law.
We will notify you of material changes at least 30 days in advance via email or in-app notification.
